I buy, sell and appraise
antique arms and all kinds of western memorabilia. I guarantee my
items 100% original with any flaws noted so that you can buy with confidence
and photos are available on any items at your request. I have published
6 books on related subjects from archeology (abd on PhD) to antique arms
and natural history. I am a Life Member and Director of the Colt
Collectors Association and the current Publications Chairman so my reputation
is valuable to me. Please consider joining the Colt Collectors Association;
we publish a beautiful quarterly magazine that alone is worth the $40 annual
membership. Feel free to contact me for additional information on
the CCA, for appraisal fees, or any of my products. I am a Life Member
also of the NRA, Texas Gun Collectors Association (Past President) and
the National Bit, Spur and Saddle Collectors Association where I am also
currently on the Board of Directors and Director of the Former
Texas Ranger Foundation. I also buy, sell and
appraise Western Americana such as holsters, spurs, saddles, chaps, badges,
photos, etc. I personally founded the American Fan Collectors Association
in 1980 and we also publish a quarterly magazine.
The following represents some of my current inventory, call for your specific
wants or questions.
1. Colt
Model 1878 scarce Canadian Dept. of Militia and Defense marked "M.D.
222" with rare original lanyard and militia marked (unit) holster, 7 1/2"
nickel, about 85%, great blue on hammer and trigger, .45 caliber, standard
hard rubber grips, this was the type gun used in Wilkerson's definitive
work on this model Colt. This exact gun illustrated on page 250 of
his book, Colt's Double Action Revolver, Model of 1878 published
in 1998. Serial #14,518 made in 1885 probably used by the Royal Canadian
Mounted Police in the Riel Rebellion. The holster is a rarity in
itself, shows Unit marks: "1, CMR, (with proof mark), (Co.) A, #349.
Gun is accompanied by folder including 1997 Gun Report article on
these Canadian guns, showing original orders, etc. from Hartley and Graham,
who was the supplier to the Canadian government, confirmed by factory letter
in shipment of 120 guns, 4-14-85. This may be the best example known,
$7500.
2. Colt Model 1878, .44-40 roll die, about 85% nickel, 7 1/2" barrel, some nickel missing at breech and end of cylinder, muzzle, as usual, serial #39,699, bright fire blue trigger, screws & hammer, originally was in factory cardboard box, since sold, $5500.
